High Road Communications Named One of the Best Workplaces in Canada
TORONTO, April 28, 2008 – High Road Communications, an award-winning public relations firm serving technology and lifestyle companies, today announced that it has been recognized as one of the 50 Best Workplaces in Canada for the second consecutive year. The 2008 list was compiled by the Great Place to Work® Institute and published in the Globe and Mail.
Since opening its doors in 1996, High Road has built a team considered by many to be the best in the industry. Our commitment to providing training and development opportunities ensure we are continually grooming the team to maximize their potential and explore new roles within the agency.
High Road’s culture was founded on and continues to focus on celebrating its employees. We recognize and reward our team on a regular basis through team building activities including an annual off-site event, annual ski and golf days, a sabbatical program and paid volunteer days to give back to the community. Our High Impact Awards program was acknowledged as a best practice by the Great Place to Work Institute. This program is based on staff nominations for outstanding contributions to High Road through client work, demonstrating passion for their jobs or enhancing with work environment. All nominations are read during the monthly staff meeting and one is randomly selected for a prize.
“Being recognized as one of the best places to work in Canada for a second year is a testament to our amazing team and our dedication to recognizing employee contributions while fostering High Road’s culture of collaboration and creativity,” said Mia Wedgbury, President and Co-founder, High Road Communications. “Our company has experienced tremendous growth over the past year due, in a large part, to the team’s passion for results and their ability to drive fresh thinking for our clients.”
This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
More than 24,000 employees participated in the 2008 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.
